In July 2020, the ancient drama performance of Aeschylus, The Persians presented by the National Theatre of Greece at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, was live broadcasted to a global audience.
It was the first time ever an ancient drama performance was livestreamed from the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, giving all international audience the opportunity, amidst the Covid19 pandemic, to become part, even from being afar, of the unique experience to be part in one of the oldest ancient Greek drama plays coming to life, at its original venue.
As a result, more than 100.000 viewers around the world watched the performance in real time, while both local and international Media applauded the initiative.
8 full HD broadcast cameras were used, while the broadcast took place both via satellite and landlines to insure both quality and stability.
The show was presented in the framework of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival and was live streamed with the support of the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports and in cooperation with Google Greece.
